Prince Philip has passed away aged 99

Prince Philip, Duke Of Edinburgh, has passed away at the age of 99. Buckingham Palace announced the news earlier today (9th April) .

His death was confirmed in a statement from the palace.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” 

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”

”The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”

The Duke has been married to Queen Elizabeth II for more than 70 years. In November of 1947, the pair had their wedding and went on to have four children together – Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.

Prince Philip retired from his own royal duties in May 2017 but was occasionally seen at the Queen’s side. He became the longest-serving consort in British history.
